Recently my family vacationed in London; visiting friends and the sights of the city, when, on a whim, we decided to head through Westminster to get to Shakespeare’s Globe. While on this whim, we happened upon London’s Parliament Square where there are monuments of great people from history which includes Nelson Mandela and Gandhi. We stopped for tourist photos and then continued on to the theatre. When we arrived at the theatre, it finally hit me. Great men and women are recognized and still celebrated today because they stepped out and took action. If Shakespeare had never wrote and produced his first play, we would not have his monumental writings and he would not be known as the greatest dramatic writer of all time and still recognized to hold this honor by many today. If Gandhi had not promoted non-violence and stepped out to help the people of India, he would not have subsequently moved other great leaders of our time, like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela, to step out and take a stand within their own country. Gandhi fathered mass movements of civil disobedience across the world; also impacting the student non-violent movement in the United States which was conceived by Ella Baker and led by Diane Nash, Congressman John Lewis and many others. Taking action is something that you can do to move your work forward. Taking concentrated and sustained action also places you among the greats who took their visions, their dreams and did something positive with them. Today, I am reminded of how important it is to take action and achieve what you are dreaming about. I am doing it daily from following through on creating (check out details of what I have been taking concentrated action on as of late here) to stepping out and building a coaching practice that helps others go after their dreams. Now, I am wondering what are you planning to do today and this week that will help you move closer to your dreams? Please make sure to comment in the section below and may we all send love and positive thoughts your way as you take the steps to bring you your destiny.
